Benzoyl Peroxide

This is the reverse of retinol + benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide oxidizes and degrades retinol on contact, making it ineffective. These two ingredients should never be applied at the same time.

This is the reverse of ascorbic acid + benzoyl peroxide. The strong oxidizing action of benzoyl peroxide degrades vitamin C, eliminating its antioxidant benefits. Use at different times of day.

Using benzoyl peroxide with hydroquinone can cause temporary dark staining of the skin due to oxidation of hydroquinone. The stain is cosmetically undesirable but reversible. Avoid simultaneous application.
