Known Interactions
Vitamin E (tocopherol) is a lipid-soluble antioxidant that helps stabilize retinol and protect it from oxidation. It also soothes the skin, reducing retinol-induced irritation. Many retinol formulations include vitamin E for this reason.
Vitamins C (ascorbic acid) and E (tocopherol) form a regenerative antioxidant cycle. Vitamin C regenerates oxidized vitamin E, and together they provide superior photoprotection compared to either alone.
Ferulic acid and tocopherol (vitamin E) work synergistically as part of the gold standard antioxidant combination. Ferulic acid stabilizes both vitamin C and E, extending their shelf life and boosting photoprotective efficacy.
